Jesuit Friends and Alumni of Kansas City
Modeled after similar initiatives nationwide, JFAN Kansas City gathers several times a year to share a fidelity to the Jesuit mission, embrace the spirituality of St. Ignatius and learn more about how to answer the call to be men and women for and with others.
Save the Date
The next JFAN Kansas City event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24
. We are finalizing arrangements with another exciting speaker. (Hint: Our invitee is involved in a unique Jesuit two-year educational institution that uses an innovative model that ensures affordability while preparing graduates to pursue a bachelor’s program or meaningful employment.)
Time and location will be announced this summer. Save the date and plan to join us next fall.
Spring Breakfast a Success
Thanks to all who joined us in March to hear David Laughlin, president of Rockhurst High School. His topic, “Jesuit Educated and Ignatian Formed: Imagine the Difference We Could Make,” was very well received. A key takeaway from Mr. Laughlin’s remarks, taken from guidance St. Ignatius gave to three Jesuit theologians assigned to attend the Council of Trent in 1546:
“If the matters being discussed are of such a nature that you cannot or ought not to be silent,
then give your opinion with the greatest possible humility and sincerity,
and always end with the words salvo meliori iudicio—with due respect for a better opinion."
