Located on the shores of Lewisville Lake in Lake Dallas, Texas, Montserrat Jesuit Retreat House is situated on an inviting 37-acre campus located less than an hour north of both downtown Dallas and Fort Worth.
Montserrat boasts a wealth of comfortable accommodations ideal for silent prayer. A beautiful chapel with stained glass windows can comfortably seat about 100 people. Retreatants relax, read and pray in the elegant library overlooking the lake. Private conference rooms for one-on-one consultation are available, and the large library room can facilitate meetings of up to 50 people.
Each guests has a private room and bath with individual heating and air conditioning. All rooms are furnished with a twin bed with linens, a recliner chair and a desk for study or writing.
The newest retreat facility at Montserrat, St. Edmund Campion Hall, includes two meeting rooms, a kitchen scullery, an open altar where Mass may be celebrated, a board room and Colombiere Library, a tranquil space for prayer. The dining hall offers meals and snacks throughout the day, and retreatants enjoy a glass-walled view of the lake.
Since 1959, Montserrat has offered silent retreats in the tradition of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola. Other programs include retreat workshops for religious and laypeople; the Campion Spirituality Program, designed to form and inform adult faith; specially designed retreats in the Ignatian tradition for young adults, deacons, priests, religious and others; and spiritual direction.
The Montserrat Retreat House is also home to the Ignatian Spirituality Institute, which conducts training programs for men and women interested in guiding people through the Spiritual Exercises, and then makes these people available for ministry in the area. They are also available to help connect people with Ignatian spiritual directors. Contact Carol Ackles, Director, at (940) 268-8788, or email@example.com.
