Our Lady of the Oaks Retreat House, located in Grand Coteau, La., has provided a home for the Jesuits of Louisiana and a beautiful setting for retreats since 1938.

Built in Spanish mission style, the facility features an enclosed courtyard with lots of seating, where retreatants can enjoy the peaceful sounds of a flowing fountain. Old oaks grace this central patio and squirrels and birds make themselves at home. Sitting beside the sparkling fountain, surrounded by flowers and mighty oaks, it is not difficult to see God in all things.

A beautiful library, newly renovated chapel and colorfully landscaped grounds provide the backdrop for wonderful retreats. Room capacity at the retreat house is 51, and most rooms have private baths. The retreat house also has a private chapel that many enjoy. Retreatants have long praised the food at the center – the coffee is always hot and snacks are available at all times.

The retreat center offers conference-style retreats for men, women, couples, seniors and religious. Directed by Jesuit priests and thoroughly trained lay directors, the retreats are based on St. Ignatius Loyola’s Spiritual Exercises. Mass, reconciliation, Way of the Cross and the rosary are also featured during the retreat experience.
