Father Eustace Sequeira, SJ, a professor and pastoral minister at Regis University in Denver, this year celebrates the 50th anniversary of his priestly ordination.
Born in Mumbai, India, Fr. Sequeira is a member of the Southern African Province. He has served in the Denver area since 2008.
After entering the Society of Jesus in 1962, Fr. Sequeira earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and mathematics in Zambia in 1972 and completed his theology studies in Germany and Austria. He was ordained a priest in Munich in 1975.
Father Sequeira served in Rome as a broadcaster at Vatican Radio and as treasurer at the Pontifical Biblical Institute. He also worked in communications in Zambia prior to coming to the United States in 2003 to pursue a master’s degree at Regis University. After earning his doctorate in 2008 from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome, Fr. Sequeira returned to Regis University to serve as a professor in the School of Professional Advancement. He has taught classes including Death and Dying, Jesuit Spirituality and Leading Lives that Matter to post-traditional learners.
During his time in Denver, Fr. Sequeira has served as a pastoral minister in the Regis University Jesuit Community and at the Xavier Jesuit Center in Denver. From 2009 to 2011, he was pastor and superior of St. Ignatius Loyola Parish in Denver. He has been a chaplain at Denver International Airport since 2016. He also serves as a sacramental minister at Denver area parishes and at Mt. Olivet, the archdiocesan cemetery.
