Father Glenn Mueller, SJ, celebrates his Golden Jubilee as a priest. He currently ministers to his fellow Jesuits at the St. Ignatius Hall Jesuit community in Florissant, Missouri.

Father Mueller began his apostolic ministry teaching Latin, history and speech at Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, Missouri. Following his ordination, he taught history and religion at St. Louis University High School from 1974 to 1977.

From 1977 to 2022, Father Mueller ministered to the people of God in parishes. He served at St. Stephen’s Mission on the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming from 1977 to 1980. He then served for a year as associate pastor at St. Agnes Cathedral Parish in Springfield, Missouri, before being assigned to St. Joseph’s Parish in Pueblo, Colorado, where he served as associate pastor then pastor from 1981 to 1989.

He continued work in parishes as pastor at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Kansas City, Missouri, (1990-94), St. Francis Xavier College Church in St. Louis (1994-97), Guardian Angels Parish in Kansas City, Missouri. (1997-2012), and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau, Louisiana. He  did pastoral work at St. Francis Xavier College Church in St. Louis (2013-2022).

Father Mueller studied European History and the Humanities at St. Stanislaus Jesuit Seminary in Florissant, Missouri. He earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, a master’s in American History and a Master of Divinity in Theology, all at Saint Louis University.

Father Mueller’s Reflection on 50 Years as a Priest

As I reflect over my years as a Jesuit priest, one word stands out: gratitude. I have been blessed in many ways. I thank the Lord for His call to serve people in this way. When I had the good sense to listen, the people I have had the privilege to encounter loved and patiently taught me how to be a better person and how to let the Lord work through me. Through them, I learned what the call to be a Jesuit and a priest is all about.
