Paul Sheridan, SJ

Father Paul Sheridan, SJ, is celebrating 75 years as a Jesuit. He currently serves in pastoral ministry for Boys Hope/Girls Hope in St. Louis, an organization he was instrumental in founding back in 1977.

Father Sheridan began his Jesuit ministry at the renowned Fr. Flanagan’s Boys Home in Omaha, Nebraska, now known as Boys Town. After a year there, in 1976 he became president and chief executive officer of the Jesuit Program for Living & Learning, which would be renamed Boys Hope in 1984. The organization devoted to the personal and academic development of youth eventually evolved into Boys Hope/Girls Hope, an international organization focused on the academic success of children and young adults worldwide. Father Sheridan remained as its leader until 1996.

He has also served as president of St. Louis University High School in St. Louis (1997 – 2005) and Bellarmine College Preparatory School in San Jose, California (2006 – 2015) He also served briefly as president of Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, Colorado, in 2015. At St. Louis University High School, he also served as assistant to the president for mission, development officer, teacher and director of the Sodality of Our Lady.

Father Sheridan earned a bachelor’s in philosophy and letters from Fordham University in the Bronx, a master’s in history from Saint Louis University and a Master of Divinity from the Weston School of Theology in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
