October 1, 2025

September, 2025, St. Louis – The new De Smet Jesuit Middle School opened in August with just under 140 students in three grades – exceeding administrators’ hoped-for enrollment. Located in the same building as De Smet Jesuit High School in Creve Coeur, Missouri, the middle school is the culmination of years of research and conversations with parents, pastors and leaders in the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

De Smet Jesuit Middle School serves students in grades 6, 7 and 8. It offers an opportunity for young men to begin their educational journey rooted in the Jesuit tradition. About 40% of the student body is new to Catholic education.

De Smet Jesuit President Fr. Ronny O’Dwyer, SJ, and Archbishop Mitchell Rozanski of St. Louis, cut the ribbon on the new De Smet Jesuit Middle School in St. Louis.

On September 8, the Most Rev. Mitchell T. Rozanski, archbishop of St. Louis, dedicated and blessed the middle school before presiding over the annual Mass of the Holy Spirit for the entire student body, faculty, staff and benefactors.

Father Ronny O’Dwyer, SJ, who taught at De Smet Jesuit High School during his Jesuit formation, is the president of both schools.
