In August 2023, the Nicaraguan government suppressed the Society of Jesus in Nicaragua, closed its apostolate, Universidad Centroamericana (UCA), and confiscated its property, including the Jesuit residence. These moves have been widely condemned.

In response to a request from the Jesuit Curia, the Jesuits USA Central and Southern Province has created the UCA Nicaragua Emergency Fund as a way for people in the United States and elsewhere to help UCA students and staff.

Todos Somos UCA

We Are All UCA

The Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities is sponsoring a campaign to raise funds for students from Universidad Centroamericana (UCA). All donations help UCA in Exile students continue their studies at sister Jesuit universities in El Salvador or Guatemala.

Members of this academic community both in Nicaragua and in other countries are struggling to continue in their academic efforts. They need the help of the Ignatian Family.

Your tax-deductible donation given for the UCA Nicaragua Emergency Fund through the Jesuits USA Central and Southern Province will be used to address a range of needs for the UCA community such as student scholarships, academic support, faculty and staff support and other needs. The Jesuits USA Central and Southern Province will work with the Central American Province of the Society of Jesus to identify the greatest needs.

Donate via the form below or send a check to the Jesuits USA Central and Southern Province, 4511 West Pine Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63108. Please indicate on your check that you want it to go to the UCA Nicaragua Emergency Fund.
